Due to limited job positions, I was forced to take a position in the General field temporarily. So anyway, today I went back up to the Boston MEPS to take the EDPT (electronic data processing test, funnily enough NOT on a computer, paper and pencil) to qualify for a computer programming position (Air Force specialty 3C032). I got a 79 on the EDPT and I needed a 71, so now Im guaranteed that job and Im leaving for BMT (basic military training) on October 15 Oh, I didnt FINISH the test, but the guy administering it said he hadnt seen anyone FINISH the whole thing in his 10 years of giving it. And my Tech training will be at Keesler AFB, MS or so says military.about.com. I originally went to the MEPS late May. The ASVAB (the first test you take) is basically like an SAT test, or generally any other aptitude test. The EDPT is a specialized test to see if you qualify for a computer programming position. ![]() Edpt Test Practice There are quite a few different kinds of problems, the hardest being the word math problems, IMO. ![]() Another has two shapes, you have to figure out the correlation between the two then pick A, B, C or D that would correspond with a third shape they give you. Another type has a set of numbers that you have to figure out the pattern and choose the next number. ![]() To get into 3C032, you have to score a 60 on the ASVAB and 71 on the EDPT, I got a 99 on the ASVAB and 79 on the EDPT. If youre thinking about military service, Id recommend the Air Force (I havent actually been IN yet, but from what Ive heardseen so far). I got lucky and had a very honest recuiter, but keep in mind they are half salesmen. What I especially like about the Air Force is the guaranteed job thing. True, if they REALLY want to take you out of that job, they can, but unless you screw up and become disqualified, you are all set. I was under the impression that (for the Air Force) if you scored a 93 or above on your ASVAB that you had your pick of positions; assuming you are qualified. Is the only reason you werent able to immediately take a specific position because you hadnt taken the EDPT yet I too got a 99 on my ASVAB. That and a flight physical is all I needed to get what I wanted.
